Once, there was a young galaxy forming in the recesses of the continuum. So small and infantlike, it barely reached out to touch the countless multiverses beyond it. No signs of life had developed on it yet; it was still in a state of chaos, stars clashing against the other, space debris barely forming the start of what we called planets. And yet one day, it vanished. Not a single hint of life or movement was left. It only left a blacker than black hollow that stood out among the rest of deep space that surrounded the multiverses. Eons went by, unchecked by time itself.

When sentient species discovered ways to traverse deep space, the cross-section highways of the multiverses began to form. Curious, brave creatures they were, traveling past their own bounds only to see utter darkness beyond their eyesight. Some unfortunate souls remain lost to this day. Others braved the vacuum and made success. These successes began the blueprints for the transmultiversal gateways. As more and more sentients braved the outsides of their own multiverses, trying to find other areas to continue the gateway, some came across the hollow where the galaxy used to be. Slowly, yet surely, some beings with advanced tech probed the hollow to find nothing but space. Deeper than deep space that could anchor anything if it stayed still long enough. Those beings, still unnamed to this day, were the first to mark the hollow on the gateway paths as they continued on with their journeys.

Soon other travelers, those seeking a new home, came across the hollow. They made their first artificial settlements here. The result was better than anticipated; the odd gravitational force inside the hollow made for a great anchor for permanent foundations to be made and built upon. As time went on and the trans-multiversal gateways turned into highways, more and more sentient beings looking for homes --including humans from other universes-- discovered the settlements. They also settled and helped build upon it, creating crude versions of small artificial dome worlds that the Hollow would later thrive on today.

The eons have went on unchecked, and in our modern time, the Hollow developed into a massive interconnected "galaxy" of artificial worlds labeled as sectors and districts, all connected by tubular "highways" to reach each of the world-sized areas. Yet despite the "planets" clearly counting as its own solar system, the citizens of each district world considers the Hollow as simply... A city. A city with massive dome worlds and many smaller dome communes within a hollow of deep space. And it continues to thrive and build upon itself each day.

Shimmering under artificial suns, this complex shines like every precious gem known to any being. The upper class mostly resides here, with parties thrown in magical and luxurious style.

The Crystalline Complex is where the upper class converse while the lower classes observe from a distance.

Where the mysteries of shopping and the delights of entertainment collide, this glittering gem of an entertainment center is your one stop shop for adventure...

The dome of the city is a brilliantly vivid blue, stretching as far as the eye can see. The dome is the city's safe net from the vacuums of space and its neverchanging sky. Thus it was always daylight hours in the Blue Shining District. Military time was the standard here since AM/PM, morning, noon, and night held no significance.

The city itself is filled with shops. Shops, supermarkets, malls, and specialty stores as far as the eye could see. Clothing stores, fitness stores, herbal stores, ice cream shops, restaurants... The entirety of the Blue Shining District is purely a commerce city.

The Complex is separated into two areas: Uptown Shining, which holds every variety of shopping store you can ever imagine, and Downtown Blue, where bars, restaurants, and grocery stores line the streets in various sizes and cater to nearly every taste conceived under the stars. It is common to travel to Downtown Blue and see massive working crowds lining up near each restaurant during the hours of 12:00 to 14:00.

The few apartment complexes that are set aside to accomodate those who stayed there are usually filled to the brim with merchants and employees alike. The living conditions have become so cramped, current merchants in the city would rather sleep where they work; some have even built their own living quarters inside their shops away from the customers. A few wealthier merchants may choose to become regulars at hotels laced throughout the dome city-world. These merchants reason that the hotel fees are cheaper than shelling out thousands more for a one-time renovation of their shops.

The people who frequent the shops and stores come from every district and commune in the Hollow. A simple shopping trip for groceries to a Hollow Denizen is a week's vacation to other people. Thus, the Blue Shining Complex is one of the major tourist attractions and sources of revenue for the Hollow, the next biggest revenue source being the Silver Edge District.

The largest of the countless business sectors of the Hollow, living or making a business here is always a gamble. Businesses and franchises rise up within days only to be bought out or overtaken by driven competitors. Think of the Silver Edge as the multiversal equivalent of Silicon Valley... Only more driven by trends, and with seedy gangsters in the background pulling the strings.

Organized gangs run wild here, the top ones owning some of the most successful franchises in the Hollow. Barely legal shops are hidden in plain view behind business-like façades. But don't let that distract you from the awe of the legitimately owned businesses whose names echo across the sector in hopes of luring in more customers.

However, the Silver Edge isn't only about business; it's also home to higher academics. Some of the best schools in the Hollow --and even the multiverses-- are located in this district.

Key Locations:
• MCNBloom Industries: a genetics facility specializing in augmentation in order to create a healthier, more self-sufficient lifestyle for each and every race. On the surface, it's normal enough: voluntary patients would go in to try out new medical technology; if it worked out well enough with few side effects, it would be distributed directly to the public, and voluntary patients would be more than compensated for their time.

However, not enough people volunteered for the more dangerous and lucrative projects, so they turned to more illegal operations such as kidnapping, human trafficking, and the like for their experiments. Police were usually bribed with money and high-priced augmentations to bolster their forces in exchange for them keeping silent about it.

Of Humans and Mythites: Humans and Mythites have resided on Lystias for as long as anyone who has lived there can remember, sharing the planet's resources and intermingling with each other. In fact, humans are the reasons that Mythites are called "Mythites" in the first place; before then, the Mythites had no names for themselves as a collective outside of their tribe descriptors for each subset of Mythites. However, that wasn't to say everything was peaceful between the two races. Despite looking similar in terms of body shape, there was deep-seated racism throughout all major regions of Lystias. Humans hated Mythites because of their various skills and abilities that they didn't possess, and were wary of the Mythites' innate ability to walk among them anytime they wished. Mythites in turn hated humans because they saw them as lesser beings and considered them strange not to have any major identifying factors to differentiate them into tribes like the Mythites did.

It has since faded off into a tense yet profitable alliance during the times of the desert sands. But before that time it was rampant, especially among nobility. Young nobles were raised to hate their humans neighbors, or were at least taught to keep their distance, and vice versa on the side of humans. Some Mythites nobles and humans however, didn't see what the big deal was. Civil wars between Mythites and humans were common, as well as massive civil wars between differing Mythite Tribes. (Contrary to popular opinion, Wereborn and Vampiricborn got along just fine. However, Wereborn and Vampiricborn hated Sphinxborn and Impborn.) Ironically, Mythites fought more among their own kin than against the humans that they shared the planet with.

The Tradition of Sounds: In terms of society standards, Mythites prize sound and hearing to be a natural and prized gift, claiming that hearing tongues and speaking languages are gifts of the gods. Those with beautiful voices attract more attention than those with regular vocal sounds. (Ex. Between a beautiful girl with a bad singing voice vs. an average girl with a beautiful singing voice, Mythites would appeal more towards the girl with the beautiful singing voice.)

Due to their bias for things that have sound, they see people who are mute and/or deaf as unlucky or cursed and shun them from the rest of society. Those who have been turned away from major Mythite society ended up developing their own villages that cater to their needs. Children who are born mute or deaf are given to the orphanages outside of major cities in hopes of someone with a like illness will adopt one of them or take them back to their villages (These are usually run by more sympathetic Mythites or fellow mutes and deaf people as the old and archaic ways of dealing with mute or deaf children was pushing them off on a random disabled person or abandoning them altogether). Some mothers, especially those of noble or royal status, who birth deaf or mute children choose to keep them and take care of them out of love and affection, usually to the disdain of other family members. Those raised around deaf or mute Mythites tend to become more sympathetic to their plight, especially if they have no learned knowledge of their society's standards beforehand.

Stemming from the above, piercing of the ears is actually reserved for royalty and nobility. The more ear piercings a person has, the more prestigious and higher-ranked they are. Princesses have four sets of ear piercings from birth, Princes have five sets, Queens have six sets, and Kings have seven sets in both ears. Going down the nobility ladder, Marquises and Marquesses have three piercings available, and Dukes, Duchesses, and fellow high nobles other than Marquises and Marquesses have two piercings available to them. Lower nobility (such as lords and ladies) have one set to their name. Commoners see lip piercing as the replacement for ear piercing. The clergy has no piercings to speak of as they feel that the lack of markings and piercings show the utmost respect to their gods. Due to this practice, Mythites do not wear any piercings to spiritual gatherings and altars of worship.

In the current day Lystias, not much has changed in the way of the basics: despite the nobility system being abolished for an absolute monarchy with only one noble family (that of the current day king and his family; no other noble families exist), only the king, queen, daughters and son of the king, and rich people who can afford such a luxury have their ears pierced. Ironically, the original doctrine of the clergy had changed from having no piercings to having up to seven on each ear to call out their positions in the churches: five for the priest/priestesses, six for the deacon/deaconesses, and seven for the bishops.

The reason why ear piercings are still rare on Lystias is that so few are properly trained in piercing of all types, (especially since we're talking different ear shapes based on myths) and the ones that are charge exorbitantly high prices for their services, which they see as a form of art (and that includes the piercings they provide as a starter kit for newly pierced ears) or extremely taxing (since again, these are humanoids based on myths, so there are Mythite sub-species that have wings for ears, tentacles in place of ears, and the like. They must know where exactly to pierce such areas so they don't cause damage to anyone's hearing).

The Wealth Index Registry: Before the abolishment of the monarchy, Mythites had a well organized system via the Wealth Index Registry. The Wealth Index Registry was separated into three systems: The Noble Registry, the Merchant Registry, and the Commonfolk Registry.

Those whose wealth and status reached a certain point were ordered to register into the Noble Branch of the Wealth Registry. If wealth and status dropped below a certain point, they were dropped back into the Commonfolk Registry. However, if they originally ran a business and it still brought in income, they were moved into the Merchant Registry. The Merchant Registry is as it sounds: a Registry for those who ran a business and made or exceeded a certain amount of money. Many Merchants have reached Nobility status quite a few times in their lifespans.

The Commonfolk Registry consists of people whose wealth doesn't quite match the nobility registry, and yet don't run a business. All types of socioeconomic statuses, from the poor to the more wealthy set can fall under this line. Even the most successful lawyer would still fall under the Commonfolk Registry if he didn't own his law firm. Thus even a poor person could become a noble if his work was good and he was paid well enough for it, just like a spendy noble could easily find themselves labeled as Commonfolk if they weren't careful with their spending habits.

Despite the abolishment of the monarchy, the Wealth Index Registry still stands to this day as a somewhat fair economic caste system. The only two things that the Lystian Government had changed over time is: 1. The name of the Noble Registry, which is now the Affluent Registry, and 2. That lawyers and other higher paid individuals and careers were registered into the newly named Merchant/Business Registry if they made a certain amount of money over a year's time (which was usually very high and was never really reached unless the person in question had a steady, high paying gig). The Commonfolk Registry was still the same in the fact that they consisted of wealthy types who won the lottery, gained an inheritance, or stopped working as merchants and/or took part-time careers and poor types.

Lystias' Currency: Niekets and Drekets
Niekets: Paper Money that come in various different colors and are much more ornate than regular earthly paper money. Think something like Canadian Dollars, but much different colors. 13 different colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. Two darker variations of the red ones, two darker variations of the green ones, and two darker variations of the yellow ones. The variations basically mean the same thing and are the same thing as their original colors.

Drekets: Round paper coins that come in nearly the same colors as the Niekets, however there are only Six of them: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Purple. Drekets are Lystias' equivalent of Earth's Coin Currency.

Lystian Language Basics
Lystias has two languages: the Common tongue spoken by humans and Shikor, and the Shiesh Language which is spoken only between Shikor.

Lexi's language is written not up and down like Japanese text or left to right like most text seen in a majority of languages, but in a diagonal slant read from the top left corner to the bottom right corner, starting from the left side of the page upwards. Most people reading the language for the first time are a little lost by the diagonal slant, but Lystians have long since learned to tilt books and tomes for others learning the language to read it horizontally.

However, Lystian coding is written in an up and down fashion, and read from left to right. Like most computers, code in Lystian can't follow a diagonal slant unless it's programmed to do so for web pages and the like. Thus Lystians wanting to learn how to program have to be willing to break out of reading the usual diagonal slant in order to properly program computers.

In fact, some Lystian companies have also taken to writing up and down in their documents in order to seem more professional.

•How many continents are on the planet?
A: Three continents: Zeltainnia, Meriark, and Delraitt. However, quite a few islands take up Lystias as well, and most of them act as countries. Some are outright uninhabited for various reasons.

•What are the planet's major oceans, if any are named or exist?
A: Lystias is a desert world: if there's any water, it would be underground. However, the space that separates each continent is known as the Kiarta Wastelands. The wastelands are a true no man's land and the equivalent of Lystias' former oceans; the only way you know that you're starting to hit the wastelands is if the wind starts picking up at high rates. Special ships are built to sail the wastelands, as crossing it alone on foot is impossible.

•What is the planet's typical climate for each continent?
A: Hot and arid describe the whole of Lystias. There are some areas that are more humid in areas of Delraitt, which has started a major conflict in itself since humid means water can be extracted from the air.

•What is the typical wealth mark (I.e. how plentiful is the area in question) for each continent?

•What major capitals are in each continent? What's it like in each one?
A: The capital of Zeltainnia is Lucrilyne, a dry and arid place that still maintains its beauty even now. Meriark has the capital Aiyan.

•Are there any particular laws that we should know about? Homosexuality, multiple marriages, incest, etc.?
A:
Homosexuality/Same-Sex Marriage: Laws vary from continent to continent. Zeltainnia is the most restrictive, and does not accept homosexuality or same-sex marriages because of religious reasons and bias towards those who can procreate in a relationship. In Meriark, homosexuality is frowned upon, but they do recognize legal marriages from Delraitt and nearby planets and systems. Delraitt is the most welcoming of homosexuality: same sex marriages are performed freely and recognized through the whole continent.

Polyamory/Multiple Marriages: Again, laws vary from each continent. Delraitt does not recognize or perform polyamorous marriage, claiming that marriage is best shared among two people regardless of gender. In a similar vein to same-sex marriage, Meriark recognizes poly marriages from Zeltainnia but still frown upon the practice and refuse to perform ceremonies themselves. Zeltainnia is the most liberal about polyamorous marriage: citizens of Zeltainnia see the love of more than two people consummated in marriage as a sacred act. To that effect, poly marriages in Zeltainnia are closed once the contract is signed by all participating parties. To find another person to marry afterwards is seen as adultery, and is grounds for divorce if at least one person did not know about the affair or approve of it.

A: Slavery is definitely a major issue around Lystias. Racism between the Mythites and humans is an ongoing problem spanning eons, but has lessened in recent years.

•What is the planet's main government like on each continent? Do they all collaborate with each other on a global scale? How so?
A: Old Lystias - The system of Old Lystias was run by a monarchy, and each continent's lands were split between the royals and the high knights and priests of the King's courts, each having its own governing law, but all following the orders of the King overall.

Current Lystias - Current Lystias is run under a parliamentary system, with each country and province being governed and represented by someone called a Marshall.

•Is the planet made up of one or many races?
A: Humans and Mythites live on Lystias, and Mythites are split up into various tribes based on myth and legend.

•How do they handle intergalactic travel? Does it even exist at all in terms of technology? How is it regulated?

•What are some of the most popular lore and myths that are told/shared on the planet? Does it vary depending on each landmass?

A: Lystian Years are calculated by the following formula - 1 Lystian Year=12 Earth Years, 10 Earth Months.

What is Dicatos? What's it like there?

Dicatos is one of many worlds out there in the multiverse called Mana Oases, worlds vibrant with magical energy. On Dicatos, magic is combined with nature, technology, and necessity on each of its five major landmasses: Minatakak, Nerimos, Kuait-vin, Los Derimon, and Aisu-antas. Los Derimon is the largest of the four and the most civilized. Minatakak and some remote parts of Nerimos are where most mining operations are established. Aisu-antas is a vast jungle of a landmass that has long been abandoned and considered a no man's land. Wherever you go on Dicatos, it’s always the same. Glittering, sculpted towers of stone, some with electrical currents passing through large and glowing crystals called Soul. Vines covered in strange flowers and fruits twining along metallic fences that line long cobblestoned pathwalks. A hovering sound of a Denican mailman or delivery boy speeding through on a Soul-powered hoverbike as countless Denicata roam the ivy-twined stuccoesque buildings with baskets of fruit, tomes of lore, the occasional phone with a Soul battery inside….

Okay, I keep hearing “soul” in there. Do you mean like…?

Oh, no. No, no, no! On Dicatos, Soul does not mean “the spiritual essence of the living;” the Denicata call what we know as a soul, a "kimo." Soul refers to a natural crystalline mana catalyst; it’s a meltable and easily sculptable substance that contains vast amounts of natural energy straight from the planet’s core. Soul can be found on many Mana Oases that are strong in mana, though it’s called by many different names. It’s easily renewable just by burying used-up Soul in the ground so it can seep back into the core. Some have theorized this is a planet's way of showing it has no need for the extra mana.

Oh, okay! That's pretty cool! So what is this “Soul” used for?

Soul is used for many things! From intricate spells to devices attuned to and use Soul as a power source, Soul is a major part of Denican culture and life. The most common use for Soul is as a strong basis or amplifier for magic practiced on Dicatos; it's not surprising to see protective charms and enchanted jewelry made from Soul, or major landmarks and pillars crafted from large chunks of Soul and protected by wards to scare off thieves.

But there are actually two types of Soul as well: the more commonly used blue Soul (Soul Puranta or Puranta Soul), and Aisana Soul. Literally meaning "black Soul," Aisana Soul differs from regular Puranta Soul not only in color, but in that once the magic is gone from it, that's it. The original deep jet black of an Aisana Soul crystal fades into a dense and pale smoky quartz-like crystal when void of its magic. It's not renewable via normal means. However, black Soul makes up for its lack of recyclability with pure strength: black Soul is much stronger in term of mana and density than regular Soul. The softly smoky colored crystals it leaves behind when used up are also valued as semi precious gems. Thus the black crystals are fashioned into high end jewelry; jewelry made from unused Aisana Soul is equivalent to rare crown jewels. Think of empty black Soul as the equivalent of a ruby in the human world, and full black Soul as the equivalent of a diamond.

I see… So how do these Denicata come across the stuff anyway?

By mining! Soul Mining is a plentiful business with eight major mining companies. The top three companies --the Belouvedinés, the Jacksons, and the Weatherlys-- vie for the best status in Soul collecting and quality. And since blue Soul is renewable as long as it's buried, the mining industry is very profitable!

As a side note, you can tell when a Denica is a part of the mining families or the mining industry if they have a tail piercing.

Wait, how are workers and members of different miner families identified among each other if they all have tail piercings?

Good question! Regular miners that aren't related to a family by kin have silver bars with balled ends pierced through their tails to signify that they​ only work in the mining industry. Members of the Denican mining families have rings as their tail piercings. They also have a sort of a decorative emblem wound around their rings to represent the family that they come from and the magic that the family works with that involves Soul.

For example: the Belvoudines have a purple ribbon wrapped around their tail rings to symbolize their ties to the dark arts. The Jacksons have vines and the like woven around their rings to symbolize their ties to nature magic in general. The Weatherlys have blue and green ribbons woven around their piercings to symbolize the liquid used in their potion works (blue) and the natural elements that they use for their craft (green), with bells tied to symbolize that their work can either be showy or demure based on their actions.

If a family member from one household marries someone from another household, their resulting emblems are twined together between the first and second spouse. However, the children they end up rearing together get the husband's/primary spouse's old emblem. Most Denicata from mining families (for example, Creatia) like the emblem system because it gives a sense of individuality and solidarity all at the same time.

Wow, that sounds so interesting… Now I’d like to have some Soul too! Is there anyway I can take it home to my planet?

Well, Soul is actually twice as potent when taken outside of the planet. However… Because of that reason and the fact that Soul is technically part of the planet's core, taking any Soul out of the stratosphere without a permit is illegal and punishable by Dicotian law. Since Soul from any planet is very much desired in multiversal black markets, illegal Soul trafficking is prevalent in Dicatos and is a major source of conflict in some transgalactic politics. The act of trafficking Soul out of the Dicatos stratosphere to intergalactic black markets and beyond is called Soul Crushing; the stolen blue Soul is crushed into a fine, undetectable powder, stored in plain bags or packages, trafficked out of Dicatos, and melted down/formed back into its crystalline form for sale on the black market. Pilfered black Soul is crystallized in salt pillars where they can't be sensed. (The same doesn't apply to blue Soul, as blue Soul can easily be sensed past the salt, if not more so.)

Well, that's a shame. Maybe I should just move to Dicatos then!

Highly inadvised… Not because the people are unfriendly, but because there’s actually very limited resources of Soul as of this last writing. You see, ever since the Great Korsen Plunder, the planet's resources of Soul has run dry. Denicata have already started leaving the planet in search of new Soul mines, sources, and Mana oases rich in Soul. Only a few hundred thousand have remained to try and revive the planet to its former glory without the use of its primary energy source. Some have even taken to Soul Transplanting: taking used Soul from other planets that allow it and burying it in Denican soil. This process hopes to replenish the planet's core back to an overflowing state that causes Soul to appear aboveground in the first place. Despite the lack of Soul, the planet itself is in an overall healthy state, so the transition to non-Soul sources is only a mere matter of ingenuity and willingness to adapt.

Aw…! So much for moving. But how are the Denicata dealing with the loss of their livelihood?

Pretty good, I’d say! The Denicata are now a wide spread race that can be spotted across the multiverse. They usually settle in areas where Soul and/or magic is abundant or in "melting pot" hubs with multiple species and ways of life. Most Denicata still rely on the use of Soul in their daily lives, but more and more Denicata are relying on other methods of energy to live and thrive.

A long time ago, the world of Dicatos wasn't all that populated. The only continents that had people on it were Aisu-Antas, Nerimos, and Kuait-Vin. Back then, there were only two dominant races at the time: Deite Elves and Denicata. (Other races used to the Dicotian air would arrive later on and slowly accustom themselves to the Denican way of life, only coinciding with elves on a blue moon.)

The Deite Elves were your typical run of the mill pointy-eared people that were in tune with, lived among, and adored nature... Well, almost typical. These elves lacked mana (and thus magic), so they took on scientific pursuits to make up for the lack of magic. Ironically, some of those labs would end up becoming the main sites of a few Soul Mines in the future during Creatia's time. The only other differences with these elves were that they all had blonde hair (in comparison with the Denicata's brown hair) and they had the same ear shape as the current day Denicata, only they had no fur and were very thin. To this day, they co-aligned with the Denicata and worked together often. Elves needed the Denicata's mana store and magical ability since they were not magically inclined, and Denicata needed the elves' scientific expertise and aesthetic aptitude to make their lives easier and more efficient.

A: Dicatos has five major landmasses: Minatakak, Nerimos, Kuait-vin, Los Derimon, and Aisu-antas. Los Derimon is the largest of the five and the most civilized. Minatakak and some remote parts of Nerimos are where most mining operations are established. Aisu-antas is a vast jungle of a landmass that has long been abandoned and considered a no man's land.

A: The whole of Dicatos is run by councils set up on each major landmass barring Aisu-antas. Decisions about laws and other political matters involving the planet or Aisu-antas are usually settled via democratic vote between every council individually; the votes are then tallied at the main council hall in Los Derimon to reach a ultimate decision. A: Dicatos is made up of two primary races, whose population fluctuates almost every ten years or so: the Denicata and the Deite Elves. However, there are some foreigners of different races that have made a home in Dicatos; they make up a minimal percentage of the total planetary population.
